DESCRIPTION:After the full 7 and 8 TeV LHC datasets and part of the 13 TeV
  data have been analysed with no positive result on the search for new phy
 sics\, scenarios predicting unconventional signatures are becoming more po
 pular.\nThat is the case of the search for long-lived particles (LLPs) pre
 dicted in several theoretical models which would be missed by standard sea
 rches involving prompt objects.\nIn this seminar an overview of the curren
 t searches for LLPs in the ATLAS detector will be presented\, together wit
 h a more detailed description of an example of a search for particles deca
