DESCRIPTION:\n    The MEG experiment searches for the lepton-flavor violat
 ing muon decay\, mu --> e gamma\, by using the world's most intense DC muo
 n beam provided at PSI in Switzerland. The collaboration successfully comp
 leted its 1st stage and now the detector upgrade is in progress to improve
  the sensitivity by one order of magnitude as MEG II. The liquid xenon pho
 ton detector has been playing an important role in the experiment to ident
 ify and measure precisely the gamma ray. Details of the detector design\, 
 construction\, and operation will be explained in this presentation.\n\nht
