Minutes from IFIC TileCal meeting Valencia - CERN 27th July 2007
At CERN: Alberto, Bruce, Carlos, Jalal, Ximo, Maria Moreno (invited).
At Valencia: Juan, Antonio, Lluis March (invited).
At ANL: Belen, Esteban.
At Fermilab: Cristobal.
OMB status (Alberto):
Second prototype produced. The boards are being assembled in Valencia. Before 15th September.
Firmware under development.
M4 Week TDAQ commissioning status (Carlos):
M4 week
Muon trigger slide (Ximo for Arantxa):
Working on muon slice trigger. Using offline and ROD L2 information.
Working on integration with HLT.
OF Calibration constants offline-online (Belen and Ximo):
Different types of calibration units (ADC counts, CIS, CIS + Cs, MeV).
The DSP calibration is linear (E = a(b+E[ADC])). Using ADC counts for M4.
Uploading to DSP in one whole array with the OFC.
Output data format changed

Fragment type 4. Since DSP version 13r2p2. Athena decoder ready.
Calculation procedure being integrated with athena. Finding new way to avoid
Karl dependencies.
Athena Pile-Up OF Studies with pions/jets (Ximo):
4 MEvts single pions produced by Bruce with digits instead of raw channels in the RDO files (many thanks!!)
Ready to run 4 reco methods (Fit, OF, ManyAmps, Flat Filtering) on them
Also need to produce the events with min bias pileup
Need to run the jobs on Valencia
Use custom athena setup, with our own packages
Lluis will help us to store files in CASTOR Valencia. Bruce will contact Lluis.
Higss to muons: status (Arantxa):
Muons from H/A decays have relatively high momentum and are isolated
Since they originate from the decay of a low-pT particle, they tend to be emitted back-to-back
At H/A masses above 150 GeV the expected dominant background is tt. These events are characterized by high MET (2n), higher jet activity and more energetic b-jets.
b-tag essential for the suppression of the Z/γ→μμ background.
SUSY inclusive jets and QCD background ID (Ximo):
Develop a tool to identify and reject jets which potentially present this longitudinal leakage with only calorimeter information
Next step: take into account MuonShowerObject to correct these potential loses.
10 kEvts of signal RDO in valtical15 disk: misal1_csc11.005403.SU3_jimmy_susy.digit.RDO.v12003107
Parameters: m0 =100 GeV, m1/2 = 300 GeV, A0 = -300 GeV, tanβ = 6, sgn(μ) = +
Currently working on dijet samples.
Higgs ττ→lh status (Carlos):
Tau ID efficiency very low. Working on it.
Higgs to taus CDF analysis (Cristobal):
When fitting data, a small disagreement in the tail pulls the observed limit up.
The fit prefers a small signal contribution, with m(A) ~ 150 GeV, σ x BR ~ 2.5 pb and significance < 2σ
Some data excess was found in the high mass tail.
Tier2-Tier3 TileCal Issues for Valencia (Bruce):
As far as software for distributed analysis xrootd/PROOF system is ideal.
Spain is participating in the M4 data distribution. This is excellent practice for data taking.
Need to define what calibration and express streams the group would like to have replicated in Spain.
AOB:
Ximo finished the new compilation of the XTestROD for SLC4.
It will be brought back to life as soon as possible.
Next meeting in two weeks.
