DESCRIPTION:As one of the simplest extensions of the Higgs sector\, two-Hi
ggs-doublet-model (2HDM) has been widely analyzed. In this talk I begin wi
th discussing to what extent the Type I and Type II 2HDM is compatible wit
h the latest measurement of the 125.5 GeV Higgs-like signal at the LHC Run
I\, assuming one of the CP-even Higgs bosons is identified as the observe
d state. The prospects of additional (lighter) Higgs bosons searches at fu
ture colliders are followed by the discussion. \nNext\, I consider 2HDM wi
th an extra gauge-singlet scalar S (2HDMS) and introduce an extra Z′2 sy
mmetry under which S is the only odd field. Thus S can be a stable dark ma
tter (DM) candidate provided that it does not acquire a vacuum expectation
value. We find that the predicted DM-nucleon cross section\, at the low-m
ass region\, falls within the CDMS II signal region. This would be a succe
ss for the 2HDMS if it were not for the LUX and SuperCDMS limits. Possibil
ities for DM to be isospin-violating in this model and its impact on direc
t DM searches will also be commented.\n\nhttps://indico.ific.uv.es/event/2
