DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will comment on several results obtained over t
 he last three years within the context of Palatini theories of gravity: ex
 tensions of General Relativity whose distinctive feature is the fact that 
 metric and affine structures are regarded as independent entities. In this
  way\, I will deal with several scenarios involving f(R) theories\, nonsin
 gular solutions\, extensions of Reissner-Norstrom black holes\, wormholes\
 , dynamical aspects and wormhole formation\, black holes at particle accel
 erators\, non-trivial topology and topology change\, geons\, space-time fo
 am\, and the ER=EPR scenario that relates wormholes and quantum entangleme
