DESCRIPTION:Theories with a dark sector\, that communicates with the visib
 le sector only via U(1) kinetic mixing\, are interesting because they coul
 d provide an explanation for dark matter. If the dark sector contains ligh
 t particles\, these could be produced in the interior of a star and accele
 rate its cooling. I show that\, considering the well-understood cooling la
 ws of white dwarfs and supernovae\, one can place significant constraints
