DESCRIPTION:The Baryonic Acoustic Feature in galaxy clustering is one o
f the most exciting and promising cosmological distance measurements in mo
dern cosmology. I present clustering measurements of the spherically avera
ged and radial acoustic features in the Luminous Red Galaxy (LRG) sample f
rom the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS)\, as well as what might be expecte
d in the (just begun) Baryonic Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS).\n
I will also present results obtained from redshift distortions in galax
y clustering. As galaxies are observed in redshift-space\, as opposed to r
eal-space\, peculiar velocities strongly affect the line-of-sight clusteri
ng signal. By quantifying these distortions\, constraints on their progeni
tor\, namely the matter density of the universe Omega_M and the true under
lying gravitational theory\, may be obtained.\n\nhttps://indico.ific.uv.es
