DESCRIPTION:Nucleus-nucleus collisions at ultra-relativistic energies (sqr
t(s)>100A GeV) aim at the production and study in the laboratory of the Qu
ark-Gluon-Plasma (QGP)\, a deconfined (and chirally symmetric) phase of ha
dronic matter predicted by lattice QCD calculations. I will first review t
he experimental observables that physicists have at hand in order to probe
and characterize the QGP properties. Then\, I will present and discuss th
e first data from Brookhaven's Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) coll
isions recorded during summer 2000\, focusing mainly on the results of the
  PHENIX experiment.\n\nhttps://indico.ific.uv.es/event/1218/
