DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Giacomo de Angelis (INFN-LNL (I))\nNuclear physics r
esearch is at the dawn of a new era. After the Big Bang and billions years
of evolution\, the universe has provided us around 2000 nuclei. Based on
the information from these nuclei\, nuclear theory has been established. T
he steady progress over the past twenty years in the development of high i
ntensity stable beams and of beams of radioactive isotopes has allowed to
vastly expand the objectives of experimental nuclear research. With more t
han 2000 nuclei produced artificially and around 6000 expected to be produ
ced in the facilities in operation or under construction in China\, Europe
\, Japan and US\, nuclear physics meets serious challenges. It is becoming
possible to study in the laboratory a range of nuclear reactions that tak
e place in exploding stars providing crucial information to understand how
the chemical elements that we find on Earth were formed. To achieve this
ambitious goal\, one needs to study the characteristics of unstable (radio
active) nuclei through their decays and the various nuclear interactions.
Such unstable nuclei have also a wide range of applications including nucl
ear medicine\, climate changes etc..\n\nIn this presentation I will report
on the AGATA -ray tracking array and on the experimental campaign pres
ently ongoing at LNL including results from the previous GANIL campaign. I
will also present future programs of the new SPES ISOL radioactive ion be
am facility focused on nuclear astrophysics and applications. Concerning a
strophysics\, we have recently measured at ANL (USA) the 85Kr (n\, ) re
action using the surrogate reaction method with the HELIOS solenoidal spec
trometer. Referring to application I will also report on the results of th
e REMO-ClimOcean project\, performed in Spain and in Italy within the EU P
NRR program using radiotracers to monitor the adaptation of marine calcify
ing species to the new climatic conditions. \n\n\nhttps://indico.ific.uv.e

DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Nicola Valori (IFIC\, U. Valencia)\nSemi-leptonic pr
ocesses involving pions are used to test the Standard Model with high prec
ision. On the theory side\, the evaluation of radiative corrections is a c
rucial ingredient for a robust comparison between theoretical predictions
and experimental measurements. In this talk\, I will present the first com
plete effective field theory treatment of radiative corrections in pion $\
 \beta$ decay ($\\pi^{\\pm} \\rightarrow \\pi^0 \\\, e \\\, \\nu_{e}$) and
 $\\tau^{\\pm} \\rightarrow  \\pi^{\\pm} \\\, \\pi^{0} \\\, \\nu_{\\tau}$
beyond leading-logarithmic accuracy within the Standard Model. \nAs main
applications\, I will first show how the theoretical uncertainty for the S
M prediction of $V_{ud}$ based on pion  $\\beta$ decay is reduced by a fa
ctor of three\, making it negligible even beyond the reach of future exper
iments. Second\, I will present an evaluation of isospin-breaking correcti
 ons to $\\tau \\rightarrow \\pi \\pi \\nu_{\\tau}$\, which are an essentia
l ingredient for a future $\\tau$-based determination of the hadronic-vacu
um-polarization contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.

DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Miguel Jimenez\nAs we push the boundaries of high-lu
minosity physics at the LHC\, our discoveries are no longer just limited b
y how much data we can collect\, but by how well we understand our detecto
rs. Hadronic jets are everywhere in the ATLAS experiment\, serving as vita
l pieces of almost every major physics analysis. Because of this\, even a
tiny mismatch in how we measure jet energies can completely stall our prog
ress.\n\nIn this seminar\, I will take you behind the scenes of how the AT
LAS collaboration achieves world-class jet energy scale (JES) precision\,
focusing on the crucial in-situ calibration stage. We will look at how we
 use well-understood reference objects—like $Z$ bosons and photons—to b
alance against jets\, allowing us to correct the subtle differences betwee
n our data and simulations. Finally\, I’ll connect the dots between thes
e technical calibrations and their massive payoff for precision physics. U
sing the top quark mass measurements as a prime example\, we’ll explore
how mastering the JES or bJES allows us to chip away at our dominant syste
matic uncertainties and push forward the precision needed to stress-test t
 he Standard Model.\nhttps://indico.ific.uv.es/event/8672/

DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Hantian Zhang (CERN)\nPrecision electroweak calculat
ions are becoming increasingly important for probing the Higgs sector and
searching for new physics. In this talk\, I will present recent progress i
n analytic two-loop electroweak calculations at high energies [2603.08789]
and corresponding multi-loop techniques. As a key example\, I will discus
s Higgs boson pair production\, where NLO EW corrections reach the level o
f −10% at high energies. By exploiting the mathematical structure in thi
s limit\, we obtain more than one hundred expansion terms\, enabling preci
se predictions in the phenomenologically relevant phase space region at th
e LHC.\n\nI will further discuss how precise control of electroweak effect
s enables realistic probes of new physics. In particular\, at future e+e-
colliders such as FCC-ee\, electroweak loop effects can significantly enha
nce observable deviations predicted in models with extended Higgs sectors
[2509.05421].\n\nThese results demonstrate that advancements in electrowea

DESCRIPTION:Over the past decade\, quantum technologies have moved from th
e realm of foundational research into a powerful experimental toolkit\, an
d particle physics is increasingly turning to them to probe questions that
remain out of reach for conventional detectors. Techniques that exploit q
uantum coherence\, entanglement\, and the exquisite sensitivity of individ
 ual quantum systems—atomic interferometers\, optomechanical and spin-bas
ed sensors\, superconducting devices\, and engineered quantum materials—
are now capable of measuring forces\, fields\, and energy depositions at u
nprecedented precision. This convergence has crystallized at the internati
onal level through DRD5\, the new CERN-coordinated collaboration dedicated
to developing quantum sensors for particle physics\, which brings togethe
 r expertise across atomic systems\, solid-state platforms\, and supercondu
cting electronics.\n\nThese tools open compelling new opportunities across
the field: searches for ultralight dark matter and axions\, tests of fund
amental symmetries\, detection of low-energy recoils and rare processes\,
precision measurements of fundamental constants\, and the exploration of p
hysics beyond the Standard Model. Realizing this potential\, however\, dep
ends on close collaboration between the particle physics community and the
groups developing the underlying quantum hardware and methods. This works
hop aims to bring these communities together—connecting researchers work
ing on quantum sensing technologies with those defining the physics questi
ons—to identify shared interests\, foster new partnerships\, and explore
how regional and international efforts can contribute to this rapidly eme
 rging frontier.\nhttps://indico.ific.uv.es/event/8674/

DESCRIPTION:Note: Due to the total solar eclipse and high seasonal demand
in Valencia\, participants are strongly encouraged to secure accommodatio
n as early as possible.\n\nOn 12 August 2026\, Spain will witness the firs
t total solar eclipse visible from mainland Europe in almost 30 years. Bey
ond its beauty\, a total eclipse is a striking reminder of a central theme
in astrophysics: magnetic fields shape what we see\, from faint plasma st
ructures to bursts of energetic particles and coherent radio emission.\n\n
Like the Sun\, many nearby stars and ultracool dwarfs are magnetically act
ive across the electromagnetic spectrum. Over the last decade\, new wideba
nd\, high-time-resolution radio facilities have transformed the field: aur
oral bursts\, rotational modulation\, and broadband polarimetry are now be
ing used as quantitative probes of magnetic geometry\, particle accelerati
 on\, stellar winds\, and star–planet interactions—and they are opening
a realistic path toward detecting and characterising exoplanetary magneto
spheres.\n\nTo mark this rare celestial event\, this conference will take

DESCRIPTION:Our understanding of the Universe is at a turning point with t
he predictions of the standard cosmological model and the observations fro
m different surveys are showing tensions in several key areas. The disagre
ement is expressed in the value of cosmic expansion as well as in the grow
th of large-scale structure in the Universe. New cosmological surveys\, ma
ny of which are European\, may expose tension in additional areas of the c
oncordance model. The question of cosmological tensions can be confronted
in a number of ways. Firstly\, survey data needs to be further analyzed fo
r potential systematic uncertainties or biases. Secondly\, there have been
numerous advances in approaches to data analysis and statistics\, some of
which provide less dependence on cosmological models to make cosmological
parameter estimates. Lastly\, there are a plethora of new proposals from
fundamental physics which range from novel neutrino physics to dark energy
proposals (and others) which may contribute to a solution to the cosmolog
ical tensions problem. These represent the three research themes through w
hich cosmological tensions will either be alleviated or resolved.\n\nCosmo
 Verse@Bilbao 2026 (15 September – 17 September 2026 & 18 September Manag
ement Committee Meeting) is the fourth annual conference in a series of co

DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Liu Wanqiang (UV)\nTrapped ions provide a highly co
ntrollable platform for quantum computation with discrete variables\, enco
ded in internal electronic states. At the same time\, their collective pho
non modes offer a natural continuous-variable Hilbert space with bosonic s
tatistics. This hybrid DV/CV structure offers a promising route to simulat
ing quantum field theories with both matter and gauge degrees of freedom.
\n\nIn this talk\,  I will discuss how phonon modes of trapped ions can
be used to encode gauge bosons\, and present a CV/DV quantum signal proce
ssing protocol to compute Wilson lines. This construction can serve as a s
ubroutine for full quantum simulations of lattice gauge theories\, and may
also provide quantum-accelerated methods for classical lattice gauge theo
 ry simulations.\nhttps://indico.ific.uv.es/event/8673/
